This is the second request to create a profile for "The Jamie Bruckner
Quartet", abbreviated "JBQ" as in jbq20020519. This was a project I played
in around 5 years ago, and I already have the other bandmembers'
permission to post anything and everything we have to the LMA.
As the band's recordist and engineer, I will be
handling all the uploading and management of the shows' pages. There are
currently 5 shows (across 6 discs) sitting on your servers waiting for the
JBQ profile to be created so they can be detailed and finalized.
If you're waiting for some added info about the band, well here's some:
• it was made up of 4 seniors at Concord, MA's Concord Academy
• the band formed circa 10/01 and separated after our 5/19/02 performance
• we played mostly covers (Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Phish, The Grateful
Dead, The Meters, etc.) but some originals as well; the emphasis was on
development and improvisation, so the song-content isn't of primary
importance
• we called the style "prog trunk", or progressive trance-funk; this
definition, while accurate, is very tongue-in-cheek, knowingly
pretensious, and fairly sarcastic
• members and instrumentation:
• me (Jake Lewis): drums
• Harris Stewart: guitar and vocals
• Alex Nichols: guitar and vocals
• Natan Keyes: bass
• the band was named in (dubious) honor of a jackass who graduated a
couple years ahead of us; again, the sarcasm is thick
